Jewish Holidays Deserves the Same as Christian Holidays
Many schools around the US or even the world has school days off to celebrate Christian holidays such as Christmas. However, Jewish holidays are also important. There are three primary holidays possibly celebrated by every Jewish person: Passover, Rosh Hashanah, and Yom Kippur. These three holidays have special meanings and traditions involved with it. This article, BBC, explains that Passover celebrates the liberation of Israeli children from the Egyptians. The celebration is 7 days long, and the first and last days all rest. People would avoid leavened food, such as bread. The Rosh Hashanah celebrates the creation of the world, making it the Jewish new year. People celebrate this holiday with feasts and emphasizing the sweetness so their next year would be sweet. The Yom Kippur is the celebration of God's decision on what your next year would be like. On this holiday, people need to go to church to pray and confess their sins at the synagogue.
I say this to show how important these holidays are to people who believe in Judaism. They should not be unable to celebrate these holidays. They must celebrate their holidays like Christmas. In many areas, not only do students need days off, teachers may want certain days off as well. Around 7.2 million Americans define as Jewish. Just because they are <2% of the population, their religion shouldn't be ignored while holidays like Christmas are celebrated.
