This article is about a 13 year old boy named Christophe Maleau. He is a swimming prodigy from a country called Martinique. His challenge was to swim from Martinique to Saint Lucia, a neighboring island. The challenge took the young boy a total of 13 hours, 50 minutes and 47 second to complete. He was followed close by a canoe containing his father, doctors, and divers in case things went bad. There was also family members who followed in a boat. During the challenge Christophe said he sang songs to himself and thought about the encouragement he would get on social media once he finished. Although completing the challenge wasn’t the only thing on his mind. He did this challenge to raise awareness for breast cancer due to his mom currently having this disease. That is the reason Christophe swims, to help cancer patients.
This article kind of reminds me of Amelia Earhart because she was the first female to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. She had achieved this on June 18th, 1928. Although she had a lot more of her life to prepare for this challenge. She dreamt of completing this since she was a little girl. Christophe Maleau was also one of the first to swim this long distance for his young age. Many reporters greeted them as they got to the finish line.
