The Human Hold on Earth

Summary

Over the past hundreds of thousands of years the cheetah species has faced many ups and downs ultimately leading them back into their possible extinction now in present times.  When it comes to the causes of their extinction there are many contributors. The main ones consist of humans infringing the population by trying to accommodate for themselves, an evolution in their genes, and climate change.

Analysis

This article was a reminder for me about how much of an impact humans have on Earth and what happens to the planet in the future. As time goes on and humans evolve over the years changes are bound to come along with that. I believe that when past decisions and possibly even when current ones are being made long term effects aren’t one of the major thought priorities and are overthrown. These updates/changes are being introduced and it begins to take a toll on the earth's surroundings. It does so by slowly damaging different effects along with animal species, which aren’t even the only things being majorly impacted. Humans could also be the ones to endure some harm. If the cheetah species can't adapt to these inflicting changes than the whole animal chain will be affected. An example of this could be that one species becomes overpopulated due to lack of another and animals play a role on the human environment.

Discussion question(s):

  • Do you agree or disagree with the statements above? If so or if not expand.

  • What do you think could possibly be done to decrease the already set harms on these animal species?
